In October 2006 the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came into effect revoking vast amounts of old fire safety regulations and consequently the old Fire Certificate is no more!
If you are :
➤ the employer in a workplace
➤ the person who has control over a premises in any form
➤ the owner of a premises
the new system has placed the onus on you to nominated a Responsible Person/s to carry out fire safety risk assessments followed by developing a Fire Safety Procedure, Emergency Plans and building a documentation system to ensure everything is recorded.
Those places covered by this Regulation are all non - domestic properties which include:-
➤ Premises of multiple occupancy
➤ Theatres
➤ Church halls
➤ Cinemas
➤ Offices - big or small
➤ Schools
➤ Shops - big or small
➤ Factories
➤ Workshops
➤ And so on
So no matter how big or small your firm is you need to act
IMMEDIATELY to ensure that you have a suitable and sufficient Fire Safety Plan in place.
